Expecting Something

Expecting Something is a platform to address the question: How does homelessness uniquely affect women who become pregnant? Focusing on the Netherlands, and specifically the city of The Hague, we aim to expose the lack of visibility and viable resources for this particularly vulnerable demographic. We offer a journalistic look at the language of eviction used by housing companies, as well as the pervasive problem of missing data. There is a stereotype of the homeless person as male, as well as the assumption that women are dependent by default. We investigate the cracks in the system and the burden of misplaced responsibility.
